March 2, 2015 marked the first day of the nine-week basic training of new recruits of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF), which will be transforming into the Kosovo national army in the coming years. New recruits arrived at the KSF Training & Doctrine Centre (TRADOC) in Ferizaj, southern Kosovo. A total of 5,872 Kosovars ages 18-25 applied, and 159 were selected for this new generation of soldiers. Those who were selected had to pass a series of interviews and tests, including an IQ test and physical examination. Not all 159 recruits will make it to graduation.
